چکیده

The overall performance of sandwiched ultrasonic transducers can be substantially degraded due to defects. Model-based diagnosis can be an attractive technique for monitoring the performance of sandwiched ultrasonic transducers. Using electromechanical models of the transducer, most parameters of the system can be determined based on measurements of electrical input quantities only. This contribution concentrates on the investigation of the effects of some typical defects, like loss of pre-stress. Measured input admittances of a custom-made transducer for various levels of pre-stress are used to identify the parameters of the electromechanical model with nonlinear least-square estimation techniques. By monitoring resonance frequency and admittance maxima during operation of the transducer the resulting model can be used to detect loss of pre-stress and thus possible failure. Operating parameters like driving frequency or voltage can be adopted to achieve optimum characteristics.

PSpice Modeling of a Sandwich Piezoelectric Ceramic Ultrasonic Transducer in Longitudinal Vibration

Sandwiched piezoelectric transducers are widely used, especially in high power applications. For more convenient analysis and design, a PSpice lossy model of sandwiched piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers in longitudinal vibration is proposed by means of the one-dimensional wave and transmission line theories. With the proposed model, the resonance and antiresonance frequencies are obtained, a...

The Effect of Electrical Impedance Matching on the Electromechanical Characteristics of Sandwiched Piezoelectric Ultrasonic Transducers

For achieving the power maximum transmission, the electrical impedance matching (EIM) for piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers is highly required. In this paper, the effect of EIM networks on the electromechanical characteristics of sandwiched piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers is investigated in time and frequency domains, based on the PSpice model of single sandwiched piezoelectric ultrason...

Impact Analysis of Variation in Geometrical Features on Intrinsic Characteristics of Capacitive Micro-machined Ultrasonic Transducers

Capacitive Micro-machined Ultrasonic Transducers (CMUTs) are the ultrasonic devices which produce better features in contrast to piezoelectric transducers. The intrinsic parameter of CMUT varies with the variation in geometrical dimension of the device. The cavity height and the radius of the CMUT with circular membrane is varied in the lumped parallel plate model for its impact on the paramete...

High Temperature Integrated and Flexible Ultrasonic Transducers for NDT

Integrated (IUTs) and flexible ultrasonic transducers (FUTs) are presented for NDT at high temperatures. These transducers are made of sol-gel sprayed piezoelectric thick (> 40μm) ceramic films. The ceramic materials are lead-zirconate-titanate, bismuth titanate and lithium niobate which are for thickness measurement up to 150°C, 400°C and 800°C, respectively. The IUT can be also deposited onto...

Piezoceramic Element Design and Fabrication for Ultrasonic Transducer of Gas Meter

Ultrasonic transducers play a significant role in generating and receiving the acoustic waves in ultrasonic flowmeters. Depending on the required accuracy, the ultrasonic transducers can be installed either in one pair or more in an ultrasonic flowmeter. The main part of an ultrasonic transducer is its piezoceramic element. In this work, four piezoceramic elements with different diameter to thi...
